This is good one for any club discussion. In not any particular order here's what I would like to see show up.
Late Model 172: I fly the 1999 172SP out of Ahart at LVK from time to time. It's really easy to spoiled by the nearly new leather, GPS, autopilot and 180 hp of the plane. With all of the incentives that Cessna is giving on it's current years models it's depressed the prices of 1997 and up used aircraft well below the 100k mark. I don't see that trend reversing itself any time soon, and a less used bird may fall to our price range or it may make good a deal for someone to buy and do a leaseback.
Any Model 182: It would be nice to have a heavy lifter long distance hauler. My family is only getting bigger, and the last time I took my wife and son in a 172 to see the grandparents we just ran out of space to put stuff. No way I'm going to fit the next kid in as well.
Cirrus SR20-22:This would be a bigger chunk to bite and granted the insurance issues with Cirrus are tough to get by, but West Valley pulled it off and looking at their hourly rates they are pretty reasonable. They have their SR20 at 155/hr and it's brand new. If you work their 172 rates backwards to our club rates and apply it to the SR20 rate it would work out to about 135hr. Not cheap, but consider your doing 160 knots vs 120 knots and it starts to equal itself out. Plus I think if the club had one to rent we could easly attract the pilots in the East Bay who are looking to rent one.
Now if we can just find an owner who wants to lease one back
