Just curious which club planes people like to fly the most and why. Here are my thoughts ...

I like 4JG's Garmin 530 and intercom. The extra climb and cruise performance is nice, too.

9UL to me is a stable old friend, though the panel is somewhat lacking and it seems to need a lot of right rudder.

12R is nice because the #1 and #2 radios are consistent and it also has DME, but parts of the interior are a bit sad. It flies relatively straight and doesn't have any bad habits.

4AC has a peculiar left banking tendency when you don't pay attention, but it has a pretty good panel and has certainly become the club's workhorse. I like the way the new seat tracks feel!

05D has great paint and interior and is the staightest flying plane in the club's fleet. I wish it had a PowerFlow exhaust and better radios, but it's still a sweet plane. Can't wait to try out the 2-axis autopilot the next time I fly it.

36B is a fun plane to fly 99% of the time. The other 1% is sheer terror! ;-)

This is good one for any club discussion. In not any particular order here's what I would like to see show up.

Late Model 172: I fly the 1999 172SP out of Ahart at LVK from time to time. It's really easy to spoiled by the nearly new leather, GPS, autopilot and 180 hp of the plane. With all of the incentives that Cessna is giving on it's current years models it's depressed the prices of 1997 and up used aircraft well below the 100k mark. I don't see that trend reversing itself any time soon, and a less used bird may fall to our price range or it may make good a deal for someone to buy and do a leaseback.

Any Model 182: It would be nice to have a heavy lifter long distance hauler. My family is only getting bigger, and the last time I took my wife and son in a 172 to see the grandparents we just ran out of space to put stuff. No way I'm going to fit the next kid in as well.

Cirrus SR20-22:This would be a bigger chunk to bite and granted the insurance issues with Cirrus are tough to get by, but West Valley pulled it off and looking at their hourly rates they are pretty reasonable. They have their SR20 at 155/hr and it's brand new. If you work their 172 rates backwards to our club rates and apply it to the SR20 rate it would work out to about 135hr. Not cheap, but consider your doing 160 knots vs 120 knots and it starts to equal itself out. Plus I think if the club had one to rent we could easly attract the pilots in the East Bay who are looking to rent one.
Now if we can just find an owner who wants to lease one back
